WEEK 6:
This episode on media studies we went deeper and diver into genre and learned media theories like David Buckingham, Steve Neil. David Buckingham states that a media text must be similar enough to be recognized in the genre but be different and innovative enough to be inciting to the audience or new audience. While Steve Neil states that media and media text changes to cater to societal changes and technological changes because as times goes by tech gets more wacky.
WEEK 7:
This episode on Media Studies we learned about more media theories like Roland Barthes. Ronald Barthes theorised that media text contains 5 narrative codes which are Hermeneutic code, Proairetic code, Semantic code and Symbolic code. Levi Shauss also theorised that the story can only progress of there is conflict for the antagonist or the protagonist to make the story move forward.
Self Reflection: I could say that my thinking and ideas were influenced by the learning but some of the definitions make no sense. Other then that I'd say it was quite useful even though I didn't get to apply it a lot even thought I saw it everywhere
